Trolling or Cyber bullying

Social media which changed the way of communication and took the connectivity to far greater heights. It was a revolutionary change which affected 4 billion people in its beginning stage and today the whole population of human beings is affected by it that is 7 billion+ people.
when it fastened the communication it fastened messages and ideas and other vital information but along with this it also fastened abuse and bullying. The word used for online abuse and bullying is called Trolling.
Trolling are as common as memes. People get harassed. Depression, degraded social life, loss of self confidence are some outcomes of internet trolling. Celebrities, public figures, politicians and young women are the most affected ones.

The Knowthenet survey reveals that Facebook and Twitter are the places where 90% trolling happens. This trolling is based on race, country, sex, and lifestyle.

Researchers at the university of Oxford, Swansea and Birmingham reviewed previous studies on cyberbullying which involved 1.5 lakh people under the age of 25 across 30 countries they found that online abuse/ Cyberbullying raised the risk of self harm or suicide behaviour by 2.3 times.
Social media is the fastest way of communication today and it sends messages and other content across countries in just a few seconds this is the reason why trolling is not limited to a single country but has spread to the whole world.

Cyber bullying involves:
  • Humiliating/ embarrassing content posted online about the victim of online bullying.
  • Hacking of account
  • Posting vulgur messages
  • Threatening the victim to commit activities of violence
  • Stealing
  • Child pornography or threats of child pornography

In order to control online abuse and cyber bullying various countries have various rules and regulation to control the situation.
There is no specific legislation which provides for specific cyber bullying laws in India however provision such as section 67 of the information technology act deals with cyber bullying in a way. Section 67 of the act prescribes punishment for cyber bullying it also includes five year imprisonment along with a fine of up to 10 lakh rupees. Section 507 of IPC and Section 66a of IT act or other provisions of the cyber bullying laws in India.

MTV Troll Police is a show which focused on tracking and solving cyber bully cases and it showed various ways to tackle trolls it also focused and exposed the trolls of various celebrities.

Give them a solid response.
Which teach them forever.
